About the SLFA

Let's Talk about US

The SLFA was previously known as the STFA where it was formed in 1933’s, where it celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 1983 and kept its name until 1991 when it became the STDFA, and became a member of the Southern Transvaal Provincial Football Association. During this period we encompassed football in the Greater Johannesburg area as well as Alberton in the East, Bedfordview in the North East, Meyerton in the South and Randfontein in the West. At the formation of the STPFA in 1991 members of the Executive of the STDFA were elected to key positions on the Executive Board of the STPFA: Namely Ron Lawson (Vice President) and Dennis Powell (Treasurer) In later years Mr Ernest Botha was also elected to the Executive of the Provincial Body and served a term as 1st Deputy President. In 1996 it became the SDFA until 2006, the status then changed to that of a LFA and it became known as SLFA. Throughout all these years the STDFA, SDFA and SLFA have always co-operated fully with the Provincial Body to develop football. The SLFA as the administrative body is committed to the development of amateur football in our district. Our focus is on promoting and facilitating the development of football through proactive engagement with clubs, coaches and referees. We strive to create collaborative partnerships with Clubs and Officials to better the game of football overall. We are committed to sound governance, good administration, financial stability, remain commercially viable and to assist with improving the technical Performance of clubs, coaches, players & officials.
